What might menopause cost your business?
We have built a menopause calculator as a tool for employers to estimate the possible size and cost of peri menopause and menopause on their workforce and to help them identify how many of their staff could benefit from increased workplace support at different ages. The calculator estimates the number of women in your organisation that could be experiencing menopause symptoms. Menopause typically occurs between the ages of 45 and 55, and the average age of menopause in the UK is 51. However, some women are affected at a younger age because of medical reasons, and many women will start to notice changes from 40 onwards. For this reason, we have split our workplace menopause calculator by age group. This means that you can estimate the number of women aged 40 and over that may be experiencing symptoms, and/or estimate the number of women aged 50 and over that could leave their role due to the impact of their severe or bothersome menopause symptoms. We have done it this way as there is more research into the impacts of menopause on working women aged 50 and over. The calculator is meant to be used as a general guide and to start a conversation about your organisation’s specific needs and how your employees could be supported by Adora. Since staff training and rehiring costs vary across sectors and industries, we have used a benchmark rehiring cost for our calculator. We can however work with clients to produce more accurate estimates based on their own data and industry.

Development of the calculator and how to use
HR teams and companies may find it useful to use the calculator to estimate how many staff could be impacted by menopause symptoms from the age of 40 onwards. This calculator provides estimates based on the best available evidence (we regularly review this to be in line with emerging academic evidence).
